In Loving Memory of Yvette Godefroy

With profound love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Yvette Godefroy, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Yvette was born in Petite Rivière de Saint-Jean-du-Sud, Haiti, where she was raised as the second of eight children. She was blessed with a large and loving family and shared her childhood with her siblings: Eldreda, Fannie, Olga (preceded her in death), Theralda (preceded her in death), Celine, Caridad, and Max Antoine.

At the age of 39, Yvette courageously left her beloved homeland in 1974 to begin a new chapter in Paris, France. With determination and unwavering faith, she built a new life before relocating to Smyrna, Georgia, in 1991, where she continued creating opportunities for herself and her family.

Yvette devoted many years to a successful career in the hospitality industry. Known for her warm smile, welcoming spirit, and tireless work ethic, she served others with grace and kindness until her retirement in 2006.

Outside of work, Yvette found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved to dance, enjoyed spending time with family, and treasured every opportunity to celebrate with those she loved. Her strength, resilience, generosity, and quiet wisdom were gifts to everyone who knew her. She led by example, demonstrating perseverance through every season of life while always placing family at the center of her heart.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving children: Andrele (Rosemarie) Lafortune, Rene Godefroy, and Roberto Glemeau.

She was a devoted grandmother to Kelly Lafortune, Thomasina Lafortune-Griffith, Jeremy Glemeau, Mickerlange Lafortune, and RobinTina Glemeau, and a proud great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life.

Yvette is also survived by her beloved siblings Eldreda, Fannie, Celine, Caridad, and Max Antoine, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Olga and Theralda.

Yvette's life was defined by courage, sacrifice, faith, and unconditional love. From the shores of Haiti to the streets of Paris and ultimately to the community she called home in Georgia, she built a legacy rooted in hard work, perseverance, and devotion to family. Her love will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her.

Though our hearts grieve her absence, we rejoice in the beautiful life she lived and the eternal peace she has found.
