William Charles "Bill" Sawyer, Jr.

William Charles "Bill" Sawyer, Jr., age 93, of Canton, GA passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. Funeral Services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, May 28, 2026 in the chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Dr. Richard Walker officiating. The family will receive friends from 1pm until 2pm prior to the ceremony at the funeral home. A Graveside Service will be held at 11am on Friday, May 29th at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.Born in Cuthbert, GA, Mr. Sawyer had lived in Marietta and Douglasville for most of his life before moving to Canton three years ago. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked as an apartment maintenance manager with AG Spanos for over 20 years. He was a member of Macland Baptist Church, and was a handyman who could fix anything. He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Sawyer, in 2018, children, Patty Sawyer Shellhouse and William Charles "Chuck" Sawyer III, and sisters, Iris Sawyer Schmitt and Marcella Sawyer Lee.

He is survived by three children, Bruce Sawyer of Smyrna, GA., Linda Sawyer (J.T.) Flournoy of Ft. Valley, GA., and Tony (Sherri) Sawyer of Cassa Grande, AZ; Grandchildren, Stephanie Sawyer, Eric Sawyer, Amy Sawyer Long, John Flournoy, Kelsee Sawyer, A.J. Sawyer, Samantha Sawyer Sumsky, Chuck Sawyer and Destiny Sawyer, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and a loving caretaker and honorary daughter, Jo Ann (Ray) Jorgensen.In lieu of flowers please make donations to Georgia Mountains Hospice at www.georgiamountainshospice.org . They were a godsend to Bill and his family in his final months.
