William Leon Pearson

William “Bill” Leon Pearson of Marietta, Georgia died Tuesday, July 7, following a brave battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) better known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. After being diagnosed in December of 2024, he passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

Bill was born on January 14, 1950 in Rutledge, Georgia. He was the son of Johnnie William Pearson and Mattie Sue Pearson (Hawk). He was a graduate of Morgan County High School & Control Data Institute, and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Bill spent the majority of his sales and management career working for Sorbus/Bell Atlantic Business Systems Services/DecisionOne where he made lifelong friends.

It was at work that Bill met the love of his life, Cheryl. The two were married on July 1, 1989, and recently celebrated 37 years of a devoted, loving marriage. Together, they built a family and shared a lifetime of beautiful memories while living in Marietta, GA.

He was a member of the Cherokee Golf Club in Cedartown, Georgia and when he wasn’t on the golf course he could be found fishing, playing tennis, and spending time at the lake.

Bill is preceded in death by his father, Johnnie; mother, Mattie Sue; brothers, Ronnie and Tim; and sister, Melissa. His memory will be forever cherished by his faithful wife, Cheryl; his son, John, and daughter-in-law, Samantha; along with a host of beloved cousins and close friends.

The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at 1:00PM at West Cobb Funeral Home & Crematory at 2480 Macland Rd, Marietta, GA 30064. Visitation will start at 11:00AM.
