William Alton Patterson

Jan 11, 1948 — Sep 15, 2026

William Alton Patterson, 78, passed away suddenly on September 15, 2026, from complications of COPD. He was born in Glenridge, New Jersey and graduated from Rutgers University in 1970.

After graduating from college, William moved to the Atlanta area, where he built a fulfilling career in the pharmaceutical industry. He worked as a District Manager for Organon and Merck before retiring.

William was married for 54 years to the love of his life and best friend. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories. He was a devoted Father to Jamie Patterson and proud Papa to his three grandchildren, Bailey, Tyler, & Lilly. He is also survived by his sibling, Nancy Johansson

William enjoyed traveling and had the special experience of welcoming exchange students from both France and Sweden into his home and family. He also loved skiing, fly fishing with his family, and photography.

Above all, William treasured the time he spent with the people he loved. His warmth, generosity, curiosity, and love of life will be remembered by all who knew him. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will be cherished forever.

We will miss you for the rest of our lives. We loved you more than you will ever know.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 2, 2026 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta, Georgia.

Rest in peace, my beloved husband, father, and Papa.
