William G. "Bill" Justus

William (Bill) G. Justus, age 77, of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away Wednesday evening after a long decline from a broken hip and related illnesses. Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta, Georgia. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta, Georgia.

Bill proudly graduated from Campbell High School in Smyrna, Georgia in 1965. He then earned his electronics degree at Marietta Vo/Tech. During high school, he went out for the football team even though he was “supposed” to be taking coronet lessons for the band. His parents were surprised to be attending all the Campbell football games. He enjoyed playing baseball with a local Cobb County team in Smyrna, but he excelled in golf and enjoyed playing for many years.

Bill worked for several years at Thornton Chevrolet and these last several years he worked at Day’s Chevrolet in Acworth, leaving many friends at both dealerships.

Bill is pre-deceased by his parents, Jack and Virginia Justus of Smyrna, GA, and his son, Steve Justus of Dallas, GA. He leaves behind his wife of almost 54 years, Cathy Millwood Justus, two grandsons, Benjamin Justus (Ashley) and Cody Justus (Natalie), and step-grandson Justin Faulds (Ashley); brother Terry Justus (Leslie), sister Wendy Justus Glennon (Chris), and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Once Bill was an adult, he didn’t favor having pets or small children around except for his own son and grandsons. But wherever he went, children, dogs and cats would attach themselves to him like he was a magnet. Children would climb all over him, dogs would sit at and on his feet, cats would leave “gifts” for him in front of his chairs. It was amazing and entertaining to watch over the years.

Many thanks to family, friends and neighbors who have visited and lifted him up in prayer over the last few years. A special thank you to Janet Boyd, who was his wonderful caretaker for a while and will be a friend for life.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, Georgia.
