In Loving Memory of Virginia Loretta Blair
Virginia Loretta Otero, lovingly known as Loretta Blair, passed away on October 24, 2026, at the age of 67, just five days after celebrating her birthday on October 19th.
Born in Tucumcari, New Mexico, Loretta’s life took her through Guymon, Oklahoma, and Round Rock, Texas, before she spent her final two years in Cobb County, Georgia.
Loretta was a warm, strong, kindhearted, and funny woman who had a special way of making people feel loved and welcome. She showed her love in many ways, but one of her most memorable was making sure everyone was fed. Whether someone stopped by for a visit or gathered with family, Loretta was always ready to offer something to eat, share a laugh, and make sure everyone felt at home. Her generous heart and caring spirit left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know her.
Loretta loved attending concerts, spending time with her friends, and making memories with her family. She treasured the moments spent laughing, talking, and simply being together with the people she loved. Her caring nature also carried into her work as a preschool teacher, where she helped nurture and guide young children. The same warmth and kindness she shared with her own family were qualities she brought to the lives of others.
Above all, Loretta was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched.
She leaves behind her three beloved children: her oldest daughter, Melissa Blair; her son, Asa Blair, and his wife, Anna Blair; and her youngest son, Skylar Hamm, and his wife, Jennifer Hamm. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Autumn Blair, Caleb Vandergrift, Drayden Blair, Callie Blair, Jackson Hamm, and Parker Hamm, along with her beloved great-grandchild, Casey. To her grandchildren and great-grandchild, she was lovingly known as Grandma, a name that will forever carry memories of her love, laughter, and the special bond they shared.
Loretta is survived by her long time partner Deane O'connor, she is also survived by her sister, Anna Griego, her nieces and nephews, Christopher Griego, Amber Griego, and Stephen Griego; and many great-nieces and great-nephews who were part of her extended family.
Loretta will be remembered for her strength, her humor, her kindness, and her generous heart. She had a way of bringing people together and making ordinary moments feel special. Her love lives on in the family she raised, the friendships she treasured, the children she helped nurture, and the countless memories shared around tables, at concerts, and in the company of those she held dear.
Though her passing leaves an immeasurable emptiness in the hearts of those who loved her, the memories she created and the love she gave will remain for generations to come. Her family will carry her spirit forward in the stories they tell, the laughter they share, and the love they continue to give one another.
Loretta’s life was a reminder that love is often found in the simplest things: a warm welcome, a shared meal, a good laugh, and making sure no one ever feels forgotten.
She was loved deeply, will be missed beyond words, and will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew her.
Rest peacefully, Loretta. You will always be loved, always be remembered, and forever be our Grandma.
