Vioris Almena Brown (Vie, Aunt Vie, Auntie Vie) was born Friday, March 19, 1943 to Hazel Blake and Stanley Pusey in Black River, St. Elizabeth Jamaica WI. She was the eldest of several siblings.
She worked in Kingston for many years, before moving to
Hamilton, Bermuda where she met and married the love of her life Amos Brown (AKA Rockie), for 52 years. They married after 1 year of dating and moved to the United States.
After working in homecare for many years, she became employed at White Plains Hospital in the early 1980’s. She enjoyed taking care of other’s who could not take care of themselves. It became her mission to assist the needy in getting the appropriate care through all the resources White Plains Hospital offered. She enjoyed visiting their home to see what services was needed and implemented them. She also enjoyed doing hair. She attended and was certified in 1984 at The Wilford Academy Hair & Beauty School. She remained in her position until retirement in 2005.
She worshiped at First Assembly of God in New Rochelle, NY from 1976 to 2003. She was very involved in all aspects of the church (women ministry, choir, bus ministry, prayer ministry), but her love was the Children’s Ministry. She started the church nursey for many of the children that grew up in this ministry with some becoming her Godchildren. She loved nurturing them as they grew and learned about Jesus. She advanced to teaching Sunday school as the nursery expanded into a full Children’s Ministry.
Vioris and Amos moved to the Atlanta metro area Douglasville in 2005 and joined Radiant Life Assembly of God. She joined the worship team helping to empower women in the ministry all while participating in the women’s ministry and choir.
Vioris is survived by her Husband of 53 years Amos Brown (AKA Rockie). Two Son’s Ainsley Brown and wife, O’Neil Brown and wife. One Grandson, Isaac Brown. Three Sister’s - Jacqueline Worrell, Pauline Blake, Perletta Blake, Five Brother’s - Winston Pusey, Macki Senior, Delroy Pusey, Leroy Salmon and Devan Salmon. A host of nieces, grandnieces, nephews, grandnephews, cousins, godchildren, other family and friends.
