Thomas Eugene Hemphill, age 83, of Hiram, GA passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2026. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Trinity Fellowship Church in Marietta with Rev. Tim Hemphill and Rev. Mark Conner officiating. The family will receive friends from 9am until 11am prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at 2pm at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
Born in Stephens County, GA, Mr. Hemphill lived most of his life in Cobb County. He was a veteran of the United States Army, fighting as a Sergeant in Vietnam with the 196 Light Infantry Brigade. He was a charter and founding member of the GVVA Chapter 1 for Vietnam Veterans, where he continued to serve as a board member, and was also a charter member of GA Vietnam Veterans Alliance. He also loved Georgia Tech sports and model trains. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Hemphill, his first wife, Janice Marlene Blalock Hemphill and her children, Glenda Eason and Paul Wear, and 2 brothers, Rev. Richard Hemphill and Rev. Larry Hemphill.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sarah Colon Hemphill; a daughter, Candace Denya Hemphill, Acworth, GA; step children, David Allen Conner, Ann Barber, and Robert Conner; 2 siblings, Jane H. (Jay) Wanamaker, Hiram, GA, and Mary G. Forrester, Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren, Daniel Rudd, Florida, and James (Christina) Kight, Rockmart, GA; great grandchild, Autumn Grace Kight; his first wife's daughter, Darlene Farmer, and many nieces and nephews.
