Sherry Diane Paul, age 74, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on November 22, 2025. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta, GA, with Reverend Eddie Thackston and Reverend Tommy Young officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia Memorial Park in Marietta, GA.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Thackston and Ellie Mae Kendrick; her brother, Billy Thackston; her sister, Linda Bates; and her great-granddaughter, Emma Jane Lee.
Sherry was a devoted mother whose greatest joy came from raising her children and spending time in the lives of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family members. She stayed closely connected to her family, always ready with a phone call, an update, or a reminder to stay safe. She could be counted on to know exactly what was happening in the news, especially when it came to the weather. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she diligently tracked case numbers every day for Georgia, her county, and around the world, determined to keep her family informed and protected. Her daily conversations, and her "I love you" at the end of each call will be deeply missed.
Sherry is survived by her children: Machelle and Jeff Mann of Dallas, GA; Eddie and Candi Thackston of Douglasville, GA; Mary and Shannon Wiersma of Scott Depot, WV, and her first love, Carl Ray Paul.
She is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Shannon Millsap, Travis Mann, Haley Lee, Colin Thackston, Elliot Thackston, Fen Thackston, Carter Thackston, Whitney White, Sara Pingree, Colston Ferguson, Jordan Wiersma, Gabriel Wiersma, and Jakob Wiersma.
And 14 great-grandchildren: Katelyn Millsap, Savannah Millsap, Tucker Millsap, Brooks Millsap, Layla Mann, Ava Mann, Brynnleigh Kelley, Ryleigh Lee, Rhett Lee, Ellie White, Ryatt White, Caroline Pingree, Brantley Pingree, and Addison Pingree.
Sherry is also survived by her siblings: Era Mae Hefner of Marietta, GA; Wanda Joyce Norton of Canton, GA; Debbie Dunn of Woodstock, GA; Connie Clayton of Dallas, GA; and Pat Perkins of Savannah, GA; along with many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, GA.
