Sarah Wanjiru Karanja

Sarah Karanja, age 78, passed away on August 11, 2026. Sarah was born in Kenya, to Bedan Gathere and Priscilla Gathere. She was preceded in death by Bedan Gathere (Father). Services for Sarah Karanja will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Mount Paran Church. Burial will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta, Georgia.

Sarah's life was rooted in faith, family, and service. She had a joyous spirit, a warm and welcoming presence, and a beautiful gift for encouraging those around her. She had a way of making people feel seen, supported, and loved.

Her journey took her from Kimuga Village in Kenya, across continents, and eventually to the United States. Along the way, she became an educator, a mentor, a woman of service and most importantly, a woman whose life was anchored in God and in the people she loved. Today, we do more than remember the years Sarah lived.

We celebrate the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the legacy of faith, courage, love, and wisdom that she leaves behind.

Sarah is survived by Catherine Karanja - daughter, of Marietta, Priscilla Gathere - mother, Catherine Karanja - daughter, Fred Karanja - son, Michael Ndungu - son, Eddie Karanja - son, Josephine Karanja - daughter-in-law, Stellah Karanja - daughter-in-law, Wanjiru Kimani - granddaughter, Wairimu Kimani - grandchild, Nathan Misati - grandchild, Vivian Mwaura - grandchild, Jaden Karanja - grandchild, Suzanne Karanja - grandchild.
