Sandra Lee Landiss Joiner, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026. Born on March 8, 1944 in Jacksonville, Florida, Sandy was the cherished daughter of Charles William Landiss and Dorthy Elizabeth Landiss.
Sandy's life was a testament to the warmth and love she shared with everyone around her. She grew up alongside her siblings, and the bond she shared with her twin sister, Linda Tyre, was especially unique and enduring. After graduating from Dupont High School in Jacksonville, Sandy married Nick Joiner in 1964. Together, they created a beautiful family and were blessed with two daughters, Victoria Walker and Alexandra Burton, who carry forward her legacy with grace and pride.
Sandy's home was filled with love, laughter, and creativity. She dedicated much of her life to being a homemaker and mother; roles she embraced. As her daughters grew, Sandy explored her passions for home décor, arts, and horticulture, working at The Linen Chest, Michael's, and Pike's Nursery. Her artistic talents were well-known, and she delighted in crafting and painting, often displaying her work in various art shows. Her gardens were a reflection of her nurturing spirit, and she found joy in sharing her love of plants and gardening with others.
Sandy was not only a talented artist and gardener but also a compassionate community member. She actively participated in political organizations, church groups, local school groups, garden clubs, and, given her love of animals, her local humane society. Sandy was always eager to lend a helping hand and make a difference. Her dedication to volunteer work left a lasting impact on many, and her generous spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.
Preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Dorothy Landiss, her brother Billy, sisters Patsy, Betty Rose, Letha, her twin sister Linda, and her beloved husband Nick Joiner, Sandy's memory will be cherished by her surviving family: her daughters Victoria Walker and Alexandra Burton; and her adored grandchildren Leah, Will, Drew, Stephen, Andy, and Jack. Her legacy is carried on through the love and memories shared by her family.
A celebration of Sandy's life will be held August 15, 2026, at West Cobb Funeral Home, located at 2480 Macland Road, Marietta, GA 30064. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm with funeral services following at 2:00pm. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Parkside Assisted Living and Memory Care in Acworth and Season's Hospice for their compassionate and dedicated end-of-life care.
Sandy's warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed, but the love she shared will forever remain in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
