Sandra Jean Durham, 73, of Powder Springs, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on May 1, 1952, in Marietta, Sandra was a lifelong resident of Cobb County and a proud member of the community she called home.
Sandra had a strong work ethic and a heart full of love. She owned and operated her own housekeeping business and later worked for the Cobb County School District as a bus driver and custodian before retiring. Her dedication to her work was only matched by her devotion to her family.
Sandra loved to laugh and was always happiest when surrounded by those she loved. In her younger years, she enjoyed painting ceramics, gifting her handmade pieces to family members who still treasure them to this day. She also loved cooking and sharing meals with family and friends. Her table was often the heart of any gathering. Above all, her greatest joy and purpose in life was being a mother.
She was a faithful Christian and a member of Hiram Baptist Church. Her faith was a constant source of strength and comfort throughout her life.
Sandra is survived by her loving children, Arianna Durham and Greg Durham; her granddaughter, Haley (Ricky) Kato; her siblings, Gary (Mona) Norton, Kay Astrachan, Randall (Holly) Norton, and Brian (Kim) Norton; many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and special cousins who held a dear place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donnie Durham; her beautiful daughter, Cassandra Durham; her granddaughter, Sheridon Durham Garbe; her parents, Lloyd and Janie Norton; and several dear aunts and uncles.
A memorial service to celebrate Sandra's life will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at West Cobb Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Reverend Bill Rorie will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations toward a savings account being set up for Sandra's daughter, Arianna Durham, to support her future.
Sandra will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her love, laughter, and legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
