Samuel D. Hardy

Samuel D. Hardy of Marietta Georgia, a member of Central Baptist Church, born on December 23rd 1935 at his family home on Austell Rd, when it was a dirt road, left this Earthly Realm and entered the gates of Heaven in the early morning hours on July 20th 2026. He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Dean Hardy; his mother, Katie Lee McTyre; sister, Louise Frazier; and his brother, Clarence Hardy.

Sam, or Sammy, as known by the Hardy side of his family, was an avid bowler to say the least, and a passionate Georgia Bulldogs fan. He was married to Dorothy Ann Bell Hardy for 49 years whom preceded him in death in 2014. He was known as Papa to his only child, Samuel Dean Hardy Jr., who goes by Bo and his wife, Anne, and Pawpaw to his 4 grandchildren, Caleb, Moriah, who he cherished, his pride and joy, Lydia whom he thought the world of, and Waylon, the one who will carry on the Hardy name. Sam is also survived by a handful of nephews who were like brothers and loving nieces and countless cousins.

Sam attended Marietta High School and was in the National Guard in the 1950's. Sam retired in 1992 at the age of 55 after working for Westinghouse Electrical Supply Company for 33 years. In his early years, Sam worked at The Strand Theater and Goldstein's on Marietta Square. Sam began bowling at the age of 16 and I guarantee he is still bowling in Heaven as well as cheering on his beloved Georgia Bulldogs!

A Celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, Georgia, burial will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 23, 2026 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory.

The Family has requested with Sam being the Bowler, and enthusiastic Georgia Bulldog fan that he was that the Attire be centered around Bowling League Shirts and Georgia Bulldog Clothing.
