With heavy hearts, for his passing and gratitude for his life, the family of Roger Dean Stanton Jr. announce that he passed away at 68 years of age, on Sunday, May 25th, 2025, in Sandy Springs, Georgia, following a tough battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Funeral Service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, June 7, 2025 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta, Georgia. Entombment will be held 12:00 pm Monday, June 9, 2025 at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Warner Robins, Georgia.

He may be gone but, never forgotten, by those of us, who have known and loved him.

We take comfort in knowing he has overcome this world, and, as a believer, he has made the journey on that golden road to heaven with our Lord and Savior and has eternal peace. (John 14: 1-3 assures us God’s promise.)

Whether you know him by Roger or “Dean”, as his family called him, he will be remembered fondly, as a beloved Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Friend.

The most important thing in his life was his three girls and he loved them dearly.

Dean was born in Sumter S.C. in 1956 and lived in several locations during his life, as his father was a member of the USAF. Most of his childhood was spent in Warner Robins, Georgia.

He was a 1974 graduate of Warner Robins High School, and obtained both a Bachelors (1978) and Master’s Degree in Journalism & Mass Communications (Broadcasting) from The University of Georgia (Athens).

Following college Dean lived in Los Angelos, California for about 10 years and Mesa Arizona approx. 5 years, then moved back to Georgia in the late 90s and has been here since.

Career positions included:

Professor of Journalism & Mass Communications – Mesa Community College

Guest Relations – Gwinett Braves (Stripers)

Manager - Seattle Coffee at Borders Bookstore

Studio Security - Merve Griffin Studios and Entertainment Tonight.

Dean was a smart, loyal, humble, funny, and talented individual, who loved playing the guitar. He had a love for books, movies, movie history and sports. Being an alumnus, he pulled for the UGA Bulldawgs, but his true love in sports, was baseball and the “Atlanta Braves”, a passion he shared with his Dad, Mom and Brothers. He rarely missed a game on TV and donned his braves hat and/or gear almost daily.

Dean is survived by his three daughters Amelia (Ryan) Brown, Elise (Shamar) Hinds, Deanna (Michael) Torres; grandchildren, Lucas Dean Torres, Gabriel Torres, and Zelda Grace Hinds; mother, Dorcas Kathietta (Kathy) Stanton; brother, Tim (Lou) Stanton; and 4 nieces Angel Tharp, Crystal Stanton, Brandy Baugham and Amber Scalf

He is preceded in passing to his heavenly glory by his father; Roger D. Stanton Sr,; Younger brother; Steven Craig Stanton; grandparents and various family and friends.

All our love! God rest your soul always and forever!
