Robert “Bob” Butler, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on May 31, 2026 at the age of 85.
Born on February 6, 1942, in Pawtucket, RI, he was the beloved husband of Barbara for 59 years. Their love story began in high school, and together they built a life centered on family, faith, friendship, and devotion to one another.
Bob was a devoted father to Christy, David and Kerry. No matter how old his children became, he never stopped caring for them, worrying about them, and doing everything he could to help them through life's challenges.
His greatest joy was being a grandfather to Aidan, Brennan, Emery, Myles and Ellie. He took immense pride in each of them and loved following their activities, celebrating their accomplishments, and sharing stories about them with anyone who would listen. His grandchildren brought him endless happiness and were truly the light of his life.
He was also known for his love of sports. A lifelong fan of Carolina basketball and Red Sox baseball, he rarely missed a game and could often be found watching ESPN and keeping up with the latest sports news.
Those who knew him will remember his kindness, loyalty, and humor. More than anything, he will be remembered for the deep love he had for his family and the countless ways he showed that love throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, Christy, David (Kristen) and Kerry; his grandchildren, Aidan, Brennan, Emery, Myles and Ellie; his brother William (Karen); and many friends and loved ones who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Evelyn Butler.
A Funeral Mass with visitation will be held on June 26, 2026 at 10am. Mass will be conducted at St Joseph Catholic Church (Marist Hall) in Marietta GA. A burial for family will be held at National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Society of St Vincent De Paul and The Knights of Columbus of St.Josephs Catholic Church.
The family would like to thank all who knew and loved Bob for their care, support, and kindness during this hard time.
His legacy of love, devotion, and family will live on in all who knew him.
