Rachel Richardson Thomas went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 27, 2025. She is predeceased by her parents, Glenn and Clara Richardson and her brother, Glenn Richardson, Jr.
Mrs. Thomas was born in Chattahoochee, Georgia which was later annexed into Atlanta, Georgia. She grew up there and graduated from Chattahoochee Elementary School and West Fulton High School. After graduation from High School she worked as an Administrative Assistant to several companies in and around Atlanta, Georgia.
Mrs. Thomas met her future husband in 1969 and they married the same year. They have enjoyed 56 years together.
She and her husband George traveled extensively and visited every state in the United States but Alaska. They also traveled to Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, as well as several islands in the Caribbean. She was a member of Powder Springs First Baptist Church and enjoyed her church friends. She taught Sunday School in several churches in and around the Atlanta area and was presently teaching a Bible Class at Silver Comet Village where she lived. She loved God’s Word and she loved teaching.
Survivors include her husband, George H. A. Thomas, a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Brown from New Hampshire, as well as nieces and nephews, Carlton Brown, Jr. (Doris), Douglas Brown (Claudette), Timothy Richardson (Rita), Todd Richardson, and niece, Carolyn LeBail (Wayne).
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at West Cobb Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 11:15 am, at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park, led by Rev. Alan Davis.
A Memorial Service will be held on October 16, 2025 at Powder Springs First Baptist Church at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Calvary Children’s Home, Powder Springs, GA., The American Heart Association or First Baptist Church Powder Springs in care of the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.
