Peggy Joyce Lindsey

Peggy Joyce Lindsey, 90, of Powder Springs, Georgia, passed away peacefully on November 18th.

Born on November 21, 1934, in Atlanta, Georgia, Joyce was the daughter of William Ralph Shirley and Agnes Jewel Pittard Shirley. In 1951, she married Charles Boyd Lindsey. Together they raised two children, Debra Sue Lindsey and Charles (Chuck) Robert Lindsey.

Joyce built a long and respected career in the banking industry, working in Arlington, Texas; Virginia Beach, Virginia; and Marietta, Georgia. Her dedication and sharp attention to detail led her to become an auditor and officer of First National Bank of Cobb County.

She was an active member of several organizations, including the O’Keefe High School Alumni Association, the Red Hat Society, and the Marietta Woman’s Club, where she formed lasting friendships and shared her vibrant spirit with others.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Debra Hardy (and husband Murl); her grandchildren, Duane Donaldson (Robyn), Darrell Donaldson (Sandy), Mary Donaldson McAfee, Elaina Lindsey, Hannah Hardy Samios (Alex), and Jill Hardy Geyer (Joshua); and by her great-grandchildren, Arlyn, Daisy, Avery, Emelia, Abram, Henry, Lydia, Xander, Cooper, Madison, Ellie, and Charlotte.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Boyd Lindsey, and her son, Chuck Lindsey.

Joyce poured her heart into her family and was a steady, loving presence in the lives of her grandchildren, whom she helped raise with endless patience and joy. Being “Mema” was her greatest pride. She had a gift for turning ordinary days into cherished memories—teaching lessons in playful ways, laughing over card games, and spending hours working puzzles at the kitchen table. Her home was a place of comfort, learning, and love, and her influence will live on in the generations she helped shape.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Graveside service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta, Georgia with burial to follow. Family will receive friends Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, Georgia.
