Lieutenant Colonel Norman Gene Comstock, USA (Ret.), age 81, of Powder Springs, Georgia, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2026.
The youngest of seven, Norman was born on August 18, 1945, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Donald and Bernice Comstock. He played football for Scottsbluff High School where he graduated in 1963. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1968 where he met his wife, Sharon, and later went on to earn his Master's degree.
After college, he joined the Army, attended Officer Candidate School at Fort Belvoir, VA, and received his commission as a second lieutenant in November 1969. His career included tours in Korea, Germany, California, Minnesota, Virginia, and Georgia. After retirement, he worked as an organizational effectiveness consultant in the automotive industry. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending quality time with his family. He was also an avid reader with a particular interest in history.
For those who knew him, he was a quiet man but genuinely warm and thoughtful. Norman believed in the value of hard work, always doing one's best, and protecting and providing for his family. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon; a daughter, Kimberly, and her husband, Nathan Wood; and two grandsons, Alexander and Jonathan.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta. A graveside service will be held the following day at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton with military honors.
