Michael Joe Reece, lovingly known as Mike, was born on January 8, 1954, in Atlanta, Georgia. He passed away on June 25, 2025, after a courageous but short battle with cancer. Mike’s life was marked by dedication and service, as he worked for the Cobb County Sheriff's Office for an impressive 34 years. Starting as a jailer, he rose through the ranks to retire as a Major, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment. His tenure included memorable roles as a Crime Scene Investigator and a valued member of the CID division, where he earned respect and admiration from his colleagues and community.

Mike was a devoted husband to Melony Ray Reece, with whom he shared 39 years of marriage and a relationship that spanned 54 years. Their bond was a testament to love and partnership, enriched by countless memories and experiences together.

Beyond his career, Mike was a man of many talents and interests. Known for his musical abilities, he played guitar and even recorded a 45 single. Each year, he eagerly participated in the county fair, showcasing his skills as a master corn-boiler. An avid Harley Davidson enthusiast, Mike cherished riding his beloved "Mike's Trike," with Gatlinburg being a favorite destination for his biking adventures. His passion for travel took him to the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains and historic Charleston, imparting a sense of joy in every journey.

Mike was not only a jack-of-all-trades but also an avid photographer. His collection included stunning photographs of music legends such as Linda Ronstadt and Elton John. His knack for capturing moments extended beyond photography, as he was known for his infectious spirit, selflessness, and generous heart. Friends and family alike understood that if they needed assistance, Mike was just a call away.

A proud member of the local Masonic chapter, East Point Lodge 288, Mike valued the principles of brotherhood and community service. He touched the lives of many with his goodhearted nature and unwavering support, earning the love and admiration of those who knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Melony Ray Reece; cousins: Holly Martin, Kelly Reece, Dustin Lanier, Autumn Jones, Dave Hubbard, Sandy Hubbard, Diane Craig, Rodney Meadows, and a host of extended family and friends.

Mike is predeceased by his parents, Joe C. Reece and Grace Martin Reece. He leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of his beloved family and friends, who will forever remember him for his kindness, dedication, and zest for life.

Visitation hours will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 2480 Macland Rd SW, Marietta, GA 30064. On Saturday, July 12, 2025, visitation hours will be from 11:00 am to 1:00pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 pm, all at West Cobb Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow on July 12, 2025, at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park at 2:15 PM.
