Martha Ann Giles

Martha Ann Giles, age 98, of Kennesaw, GA passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2026. The family will receive friends from 12pm until 2pm on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta.

Born on November 27, 1927 in Birmingham, AL to Philip Dodd Martin and Julia Nelson Martin, Mrs. Giles graduated from Alabama College in Montevallo, AL in May of 1948 with a Bachelor's Degree. She graduated from Emory University in Atlanta in December of 1949 with a Master's Degree in Librarianship. At Emory University, Martha met her future husband Ted A. Giles. They married in December 1949.

Her first job out of college was with the Atlanta Public Library, where she worked on and off until 1967. She then became the Assistant Head Librarian at Kennesaw Junior College, retiring in 1988. 

She is survived by her daughter Andrea (Michael), a granddaughter Katelin (Travis), a grandson Brandon (Alonna), 4 great grandchildren Eleanor, Hagen, Madeline and August, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ted and a daughter, Debbie. She will be buried at the Georgia National Cemetery with her late husband at a later date.
