Leigh Ann Wu, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and educator, passed away on April 19, 2025, at the age of 72.
Born on June 11, 1952, in Black Hills, South Dakota Leigh Ann spent her formative years in Savannah, Georgia. She graduated from Windsor Forest High School in 1970 and went on to earn her Sociology degree from Armstrong State College in 1974. She later earned her certification to teach. This led to a 23 year career with the Cobb County School District. Special Education was her main focus, touching countless lives with her dedication, warmth, and wisdom.
Leigh Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Adelle Weed and William Clayton Porter, as well as her brothers, Bill and Danny.
She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Gilbert Wu; her sons Bruce Wu, Adam Wu, and Christopher Wu (Betzabeth); and her treasured grandchildren Brayden, Julius, Delilah, and Christopher Jr. She is also survived by her three brothers, Rob Porter (Karen), John Porter (Tammy), and James Porter (Susan); and two sisters, Stacy Blackmore (John) and Paige Rutherford (Ray).
A creative soul, Leigh Ann had a special passion for crafting-a love she joyfully passed down to her granddaughter Delilah.
Leigh Ann will be remembered for her kind heart, creative spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, inspiration, and countless beautiful memories that will be cherished by all who knew her.
