Lawrence H. Ross (also known as Larry Jr.), a beloved songbird and culinary virtuoso, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2024. Born in Queens, NY, on November 8, 1965, Larry Jr. lived with a whole heart and a rumbling stomach.

Larry was a passionate foodie who cherished social gatherings with old friends. His culinary skills were popular, especially his signature dishes like lasagna, baked ziti, fried chicken, and baked macaroni and cheese. Family gatherings were always a highlight with Larry’s delicious feasts, and he took great pride in bringing people together through his cooking.

But Larry’s love affair with food wasn’t confined to the kitchen. He was a flavor connoisseur, always eager to explore new restaurants and cuisines. His adventurous palate and infectious enthusiasm for a good meal made them the perfect dining companion, always ready to savor the experience and share a heartfelt, “Mmm, that’s delicious!”

From a young age, Larry possessed a gift for song. Whether belting out show tunes in the shower or serenading loved ones with heartfelt ballads, their voice had a way of weaving magic into the air.  Influenced by the powerhouse vocals of Stephanie Mills, the emotional range of Mariah Carey, and the smooth stylings of Luther Vandross, he found inspiration in music. He was a mainstay in family events, and he brought warmth and harmony to every performance.

Sewanhaka High School orchestra held a special place in Larry’s heart. There, he thrived in the collaborative spirit of ensemble playing, weaving intricate melodies with fellow musicians. He was a dedicated member, known for his reliability, positive attitude, and ability to inspire others with his passion.

On April 2, 1983, a momentous day dawned for Larry, Jr. With a heart full of conviction, Larry dedicated his life to serving Jehovah God. This marked the beginning of a beautiful faith journey that would define Larry’s character and interactions with the world.

Larry’s commitment to his faith was a fire that ignited a passion for sharing his beliefs with others. After graduating from high school in 1984, he embarked on a pioneering adventure, serving as a Regular Pioneer for several years. This role allowed him to dedicate a significant amount of time to sharing the message of God’s Kingdom with his community. Whether engaging in door-to-door ministry or participating in congregation meetings, Larry’s enthusiasm for his faith was contagious. He had a gift for explaining complex theological concepts in a way that resonated with others, inspiring them to learn more about Jehovah’s promises.

Larry’s warmth, musical talent, culinary skills, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
