Lauren Ashley (Segassie) Smith was born on September 14, 1993 to Donald Leroy Segassie and Ronda Arlene (Massey) Segassie. She passed away on October 24, 2026 at the age of 33.

She was born to be a teacher, and she served that role with great enthusiasm at Smyrna Elementary School. Her favorite part of her job was seeing a student’s face light up when they learned something new. Her students will remember her for always making her classroom a magical place.

As an only child, she often joked that she was a third adult in her household growing up. She loved her parents deeply and would do anything to make sure that their needs were taken care of. Her parents will remember her for being everything that anyone could ever ask for from a daughter.

She was married to her husband, Donovan Smith, for 12 wonderful years. They always made sure to make time for one another no matter how hectic life could get, and they were always up to do anything as long as they were doing it together. Her husband will remember how she would light up every room that she entered and how she perfectly exemplified what it means to love someone unconditionally.

She leaves behind three children: Kylie, Bradley, and Wesley. She will live on through Kylie’s creativity, Bradley’s compassion, and Wesley’s cheer. Her children will remember her for comforting them when they were sad, picking them up when they fell, and making them feel special every day,

Above all else, Lauren loved God and always showed the love of Christ to anyone she came across. The standard that she set in life would be unattainable for almost anyone else, but she made it look easy. She will be missed and loved by all who were privileged to know her.
