Laura Belle Copeland, age 85, of Stone Mountain, peacefully passed away on May 20, 2026, at Grady Memorial Hospital. Born on May 14, 1941, in Austell, she was the beloved daughter of the late Willy Bowen and Mary Lucy Bowen.
Affectionately known to everyone as “Laura Belle,” she was raised alongside her six siblings on a family farm in Marietta. The Bowen family was known for being close-knit, and among her siblings, Laura Belle was lovingly recognized as the serious one of the bunch.
Laura Belle dedicated 21 years of faithful service as a housekeeper at what was formerly known as Cobb General Hospital, now Wellstar Cobb Hospital. She was hardworking, dependable, and took pride in caring for others through her work.
Before marrying Robert Copeland, Laura Belle was blessed with her son, Ronald Bowen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willy Bowen and Mary Lucy Bowen; her son, Ronald Bowen; her husband, Robert Copeland; and her brothers, Larry Bowen and Williams Bowen.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving sisters, Carolyn Bowen, Joann Henderson, and Virginia Hill; her brother, Edward Bowen; along with a host of cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Funeral services for Laura Belle Copeland will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026. The viewing will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Burial services will follow at 2:00 p.m.
Laura Belle’s memory will live on through the love she shared, the family she cherished, and the many lives she touched throughout her years.
