Larry David Nix, born on April 1, 1947, in Atlanta, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home in Villa Rica, Georgia, on August 31, 2025. He was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and a proud great-grandfather.
Larry was a high school graduate who dedicated much of his working life at Sears & Roebuck, Powder Springs Amoco, and Home Depot. Before embarking on his civilian career, he proudly served his country as a sergeant in the Marine Corps, having enlisted in 1966 and honorably discharged in 1970. His military service instilled in him values of discipline and dedication which he carried throughout his life.
On July 15, 1967, Larry married the love of his life, Sandra Anita Cosby, sharing a partnership that was founded on love and mutual respect. Together they celebrated the joys of family, which remained at the heart of his interests and passions throughout his life.
Larry took pride in being a great father teaching his sons how to play baseball, hunt, fish, work on their cars, and instilling his great work ethic on them. During their childhood, he spent every spring and summer coaching their baseball teams at Milford Little League. During the fall, he enjoyed taking his sons hunting.
Later in life, Larry developed a love for Volkswagen Bugs. He would restore the older Bugs to a brand-new condition. After selling each restored Bug, he would start the process over again.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra, and their two sons: David Nix (Deborah) of Acworth, GA, and Marty Nix (Shonna) of Carrollton, GA. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Cole Nix (Samantha), Jackson Nix, and Anna Kay Nix of Acworth, GA, Grant Nix (Ashley) and Gracie Nix of Blairsville, GA, and Garrett Nix (Mia) of Savannah, GA, along with his great-grandchildren, Grayson Nix and Hadleigh Nix of Blairsville, GA. He is also survived by his brother, Clark Nix of Dahlonega, GA, nephews Jason Nix of Dahlonega, GA, Reid Breazeale of Murphy, NC, nieces Kacie Phipps of Smyrna, GA and Kimberly Keene of Berkeley Lake, GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Nix and Elsie McCay Nix.
