Jonathan Pierre Griggs

May 11, 1960 — Nov 1, 2026

Powder Springs

Jonathan Pierre Griggs was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, where he spent his early years surrounded by family. He attended Harper High School, where he was a dedicated member of the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) program, and graduated in 1978. Jonathan was the third of five children.

To his nieces and nephews, Jonathan was affectionately known as “Uncle Tim.” He was a loving, generous, supportive, and humorous uncle who had a special way of making those around him feel welcomed and loved. His laughter, kindness, and willingness to share his time made him a cherished part of their lives. Uncle Tim took great pride in sharing his passion for bowling with his nieces and nephews. Through this shared interest, he created opportunities to spend quality time teaching, encouraging, and passing along something he truly enjoyed. These moments became more than just about bowling; they were opportunities to build memories, strengthen family bonds, and share in his joy. Jonathan’s love for family was reflected in the time he spent with them, the support he offered, and the laughter he brought into their lives. He will be remembered as a devoted son, brother, uncle, mentor, and friend whose presence brought warmth, happiness, and encouragement to all who knew him.

Whether he was competing as a teammate, serving as a coach, or simply spending time at the lanes, bowling allowed Jonathan to build meaningful relationships and positively influence the lives of countless people. He especially enjoyed mentoring young bowlers, encouraging them not only to develop their skills but also to experience the confidence, discipline, camaraderie, and joy the sport could bring. At Bowlero Austell, Jonathan became much more than a familiar face. “Coach” or “JG” was a friend, mentor, encourager, and role model. His unwavering positivity, infectious laugh, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on teammates, fellow bowlers, youth athletes, and staff alike. The countless lives he touched through his kindness, guidance, and friendship stand as a testament to the remarkable person he was.

His memory will forever live in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he enriched through his love, generosity, and passion for bowling. His family will continue to cherish the love, laughter, wisdom, and special memories they shared with their beloved Uncle Tim, while the bowling community he loved so dearly will forever remember the smile, positivity, and spirit he brought to every lane he graced.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his mother, Loretta Griggs; his brother, Alexandria Griggs Sr.; and his sister, Pier Angelia Pope. He leaves to cherish his memory his father, Paul Griggs; his brother, Frederick Griggs; his sister, Juaquita Griggs; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
