John W. “Jack” Cooper of Kennesaw, Georgia passed away on October 2, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on September 28, 1937, Jack was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, proud United States Marine, and a loyal friend to many.
Jack shared 59 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Marlene Cooper. Together, they built a life filled with family, friendship, laughter, and wonderful memories.
Jack had a great sense of humor and a warm, engaging personality that drew people to him. He made friends easily and treasured the many friendships he formed throughout his life. He enjoyed traveling and experiencing new places, as well as skiing and playing bridge. Whether spending time with family, enjoying the company of friends, or sharing a good laugh, Jack had a way of making those around him feel welcome and appreciated.
Jack attended the University of Florida and later graduated from the University of Miami. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, a chapter of his life that reflected his dedication, strength, and commitment to service.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene; his daughters, Kristin Wallace (Ryan) and Jill Mettler (Michael); and his son, Worth Cooper (Heather). He was a proud grandfather to Anna and Megan Wallace; Liam and Caroline Dolan; and Jackson and Andrew Cooper.
Jack’s greatest joy was his family, and his legacy of love, laughter, friendship, and devotion will live on through his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family, his many friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A prayer service celebrating and honoring Jack will be held on Tuesday, October 27, at West Cobb Funeral Home, 2480 Macland Road, Marietta, GA 30064. The family welcomes friends and loved ones for visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. The prayer service will begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by light refreshments.
