Born May 8,1942 in Atlanta, Georgia, passed away September 15,2025. Educated with a PhD in Physics, John spent his career as an engineer for Lockheed and Western Union, eventually traveling the country troubleshooting and training as an independent contractor.
At home, John could fix anything- but if he couldn’t, he’d save the broken item for parts or to keep working on it… later.
John was strict and opinionated but fiercely loyal and loved deeply. He was proud of his ‘girls’, especially his wife of 63 years, Sandra, who he called his Bride and 3 daughters.
John is survived by Cherie (married to Rick), Michelle, and Kimberley, grandchildren Seth (married to Chelsea), Isaac (married to Lexie), Graham (married to Madi), Melanie and 3 great-granddaughters Juniper, Elouise and Laurel.
John and Sandra were long time members at Floyd Rd Baptist, transitioning to FBC Douglasville after moving to their dream home in Douglas County. Eventually health issues prevented attendance but John and Sandra found abundant opportunities to watch services on television. John loved the old hymns and believed the KJV was the only true Bible version. One of his last requests were to be brought his Bible and reading glasses. Hymns were softly playing in his room his last days.
