John Henry Conner, aged 79, of Austell, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026. He was born on September 15, 1946, to the late Clyde and Dorothy Everett Conner. John honorably served his country in the United States Navy from 1966-1972.
After high school John moved to Atlanta and received a degree in computer science. He and Nancy were married in February 1966. John went to service in the Navy and served 6 years. After his completion of his Navy service, he went to work for Delta Air Lines. Teresa was born in January 1972 to make them a family of three.
John and Nancy joined Zion View Baptist church where they started working with the senior citizens and teaching Sunday school. Several years later he was ordained as Deacon. After 25 years John and Nancy moved to Floyd Road Baptist church. John continued to work with the senior citizens, visited the nursing homes and shuts-ins of the church as well as funeral homes.
Throughout John’s life, he enjoyed word working and attending craft shows. When it was time to slow down and enjoy life John was given the opportunity to retire from Delta Air Lines after 29 years. During his retirement he enjoyed doing yardwork for the seniors of the church, working his garden and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
John and Nancy celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on February 5th.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sisters: Mary Brookshire, Clydine Hulsey, and Lizabeth Featherston; and brother, George Conner.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy S. Conner; his daughter, Teresa A. Jenkins and son-in-law Jeff Jenkins; granddaughter, Abigail M. Jenkins; grandson, Jacob D. Jenkins; brothers: Joe Conner (Vivian), Charles Conner, Donald Conner, and Nelson Conner (Jean); sister, Edwina Blackbunn (Wayne); and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
