Jimmy Wayne Jones was born February 2,1938 to the late George Columbus "Casey" and Flora Agnes Shipp Jones. He passed away peacefully on the morning of April 6, 2025. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, numerous siblings and his son Ronald Doss. 

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Joyce M. Jones; his children Bill (Lucy) Jones, Cindy (Marty) Woody, Mark Doss; grandchildren Lindsey (Chris) Blackwell, Andrea (Korey) Mayville, Carson Doss, Brantley Doss; and great grandchildren Jude Blackwell and Kayden Centeno. Family and friends were very important to Jimmy, and he deeply loved them all. He will forever be loved and missed by so many whose lives that he has touched.

Jimmy was a native of Paulding County. He graduated from Dallas High School in 1954. He earned his law degree from Woodrow Wilson College of Law in 1963 and practiced law in Cobb County for many years. Jimmy proudly served his country through the Georgia Air National Guard. After a long and distinguished tenure in the Guard, he retired as a full Colonel. Jimmy also served as a Cobb County Commissioner. He was one of the founding members of Independent Bank and Trust (also known as United Community Bank) and served as Chairman of the Board for several years. Jimmy was ambitious, a hard worker, demonstrated a strong work ethic, and dedicated himself to doing a good job and putting forth his best. He accomplished a lot throughout his career and helped countless individuals.

Jimmy was an active member of his community and served as a Mason for 65 years. He was a man of strong faith and a member of New Georgia Baptist Church.

Jimmy loved to fish and was fondly known as "Captain" of his boat. He loved bluegrass and gospel music and played the mandolin and guitar. He often loved "pickin" and "grinning" with friends and family. He was a loving, kind, and generous man with a heart of gold.
