Betty Jeanelle Cowart Reynolds, 79, passed on April 9, 2024. Jeanelle was born on January 16, 1945, to parents Robert Henry Cowart and Sara Frances Pope and was raised in the Atlanta area. Jeanelle was one of 5 siblings. She graduated from Marietta High School in 1963. Through her next door neighbors, Pat and Terry, she was introduced to Charles Henry Reynolds who would become her husband in 1971. She told her kids every time they passed Reynolds Street, that when she was younger, she would pass by that road and say “one day I am going to marry a man named Reynolds!” And she did!
Together, they had 6 children. Besides being a full-time Mom, Jeanelle also worked for AT&T. She worked for the company in Accounts Receivable as they transitioned into Lucent Technologies and retired around 2006 after 20 years with the company. Jeanelle loved walking daily with her neighbor, Huann. She was always rooting for the Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. And, if you caught her snacking, it was usually Cheetos or Brown Cows, as those were her favorite. When her grandchildren came around, she would head to the kitchen to make a round of pancakes. Jeanelle was a faithful member of Sharon Baptist Church, and will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
Jeanelle was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Charles Henry Reynolds; her son, Kenneth Alan Underwood; her parents, Robert and Sara Cowart; and her siblings: Norman Cowart, Joan Camp, Nancy Swann, and Bonnie Crim.
She is survived by her children: Marlene Cunningham, Charlene Shaw, Kim Robinson, Beverly Duncan, and Chip Reynolds; 17 grandchildren;18 great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family members and friends.
