Janet Marie Floyd, 64, of Smyrna, GA, passed away peacefully with family by her side, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, joining her parents and brother in their eternal home.
A native of Cedartown, GA, Jan earned her diploma in nursing from Georgia Baptist School of Nursing in Atlanta, GA, followed by her BSN degree from Georgia State University.
She is predeceased by her parents, Doug and Ann Floyd, as well as her brother, Steve.
Survivors include her sister, Sandra Floyd-McNally(Patrick), and brother, Tommy Floyd (Michelle) as well as many aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends in addition to her dear friend, Mary Rogers, who was like family for over 20 years.
One of Jan’s greatest pleasures in life, in addition to traveling and spending time with friends and family, was her career in nursing. She worked in many different areas and held a number of nursing certifications. Jan enjoyed working in critical care, pain clinic, heart failure, and treasured her time with the heart transplant team. Jan’s relationships with her patients were the guideposts and driving force throughout her career.
Jan’s fighting spirit and strength endured throughout her treatment for endometrial cancer.
A memorial service remembering Jan will be held on Thursday, June 12, at 1:00 PM at Peachtree Presbyterian Church, 3434 Roswell Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30305.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to MD Anderson/endometrial cancer.
