Jane Kennedy Marshall

January 25, 1953 — May 22, 2024

Kennesaw

Jane Kennedy Marshall was called home to be with her Lord, Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ on May 22, 2024, after having battled Endometrial Cancer and its complications since 2015.

Jane entered the world as Jane Babington Kennedy on January 25, 1953, in Jackson MS as the daughter of Beauford Alexander Kennedy and Sammye Kennedy. Jane grew up with her dear friends at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson. Jane attended Duling Elementary, Bailey Junior High and Murrah High School before graduating from Council Manhattan. Jane went on to study Fine Arts at Mississippi State College for Women and Mississippi State University.

Jane met her husband Victor B. Marshall in October 1970 when Vic was her Senior escort in the Homecoming Court for Council Manhattan. Even though they had not met previously, since Vic had only recently transferred to Council Manhattan and Jane and Vic had not had any classes together, Jane asked for Vic to be her escort just as Vic asked to escort Jane; they had been inseparable ever since. Vic and Jane married in August 1973 while still in college, which prompted Jane to transfer to Mississippi State University. With Vic’s corporate career, Jane and Vic have lived in multiple locations across Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina.

Jane’s most treasured calling and greatest joy was being a Mom to our three sons and a Nana to our granddaughters. Jane was always able to use her creative skills as well as her art background in creating special memories and making unique gifts for everyone in her family.

Jane was preceded in death by her father Beauford Alexander Kennedy, her mother Sammye Kennedy, her brother Robert Alexander Kennedy, her father-in-law O. B. Marshall, her mother-in-law Roma D. Marshall and our son who was stillborn in 1980. Jane is survived by her husband Victor B. Marshall; their sons and their families: Edward A. Marshall, Theresa Kananen, Mary Linley Marshall, Riley Katherine Marshall and Eve Kananen of Marietta GA, Richard B. Marshall and Michael Vaughn of Hastings-on-the-Hudson NY, and Robert B. Marshall of Tucson AZ; sister-in-law Beth Kennedy of Oxford MS; and brother-in-law Michael W. Marshall and sister-in-law Deeanna Marshall of McDonough GA.

Jane will be deeply missed by her family and friends until they are reunited in Heaven. The visitation and Celebration of Life Service will be held at the West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory at 2480 Macland Rd, Marietta GA 30064, on Friday, July 19, 2024, so that each of our sons can attend. The visitation will be held at 10:30 AM with the service held immediately following at 11:30 AM; the service will be live-streamed for those who cannot attend in person.
