James Richard “Jim” Jackson, 85, of Mableton, Georgia, passed away April 11, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born in Columbus, Georgia, to Henry Newman Jackson and Mary Elizabeth. Jim was the eldest of six children and had four brothers and one sister. Jim was an avid reader, writer and lifelong learner. He taught middle grades math and science for over 20 years.
While he enjoyed teaching, he loved his Lord, his family and his animals (especially cats), dearly. He also had an affinity for flowers and gardening. He was a member of Saint Jude’s Episcopal Church and enjoyed working in the church during his active retirement years.
The Lord’s Prayer and Psalm 16:5-11 were Jim’s favorite scriptures. Jim truly believed that God was one’s “portion” and celebrated being part of the family of God.
