Jackie (Lamar) Burgess was born on January 6, 1935, in Atlanta, Ga. was sent to his eternal home on August 25, 2025 in Marietta, Ga. He was the beloved son of Simmie Wimmie and Ella Louise Burgess.
Lamar, attended West Fulton High School, Atlanta Ga. graduated 1953. No absences ; no tardies. He played Jr. Varsity and Varsity football, basketball and baseball. He was President Sophomore year. Vice President Junior year. His senior class voted him

Served in the Air National Guards for 10 yrs. Worked Simmons Beauty Rest Company 43 yrs. as General Manager.
Lamar was married to his love for life, Madge (Williams) Burgess September 22, 1956. Married 68 wonderful years. He is now in peace and comfort in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, reunited with my precious and loving mom, after her passing 7 months ago, loving brother Tim, family and friends. He loved life. I thank God daily for having mom and dad uniquely, falling in love and blessing mine and Tim’s lives with such loving, caring parents and special, loving grandparents to our son’s Blake and Kole. You have been a true legend of life dad. Scott the boys and I, along with our family have been truly blessed by your dedication, campassion and love. You were truly affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing you. Your journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Your passing has left a void in the hearts of family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by you.
