Israel Cuevas Salgado

September 9, 1997 — June 7, 2025

Canton

Israel Cuevas Salgado, 27, of Canton, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025, following a tragic car accident on his way home.

Born on September 9, 1997, in Teloloapan, Guerrero, Mexico, Israel was the beloved son of Carmina Salgado Vela and Israel Cuevas Espinoza. He graduated from Campbell High School in 2016 and went on to pursue a career in emergency services, working as an Advanced EMT at Grady Memorial Hospital for the past five years, and as an EMT at UMR prior to that. He had plans to continue his education by pursuing a bachelor's degree in Software Engineering at Kennesaw State University, where he was set to resume studies as a full-time student this fall.

In 2021, Israel married his soulmate, Chelsey Castro. Together, they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and deep faith. Israel was known for his kind heart, bright smile, incredible sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to helping others. In April, he and Chelsey moved to their new home in Canton, GA, after living in their hometown of Marietta, where they met and both grew up. They loved spending time together, especially going on adventures and exploring the outdoors. Hiking, fishing, playing sports, and traveling were some of their favorite ways to enjoy life together. Israel was also a proud cat dad to their two cats, Mango and Cosmo.

Israel dedicated his life to helping others through his career in emergency medical services. During his five years at Grady Memorial Hospital, he saved countless lives and was deeply loved by his coworkers. His calm presence, compassion, and quick thinking made him an exceptional EMT. His time at Grady shaped him not only professionally but personally. It was a place where he grew into the man so many knew and admired. Israel found purpose in serving others, and his legacy of care and service will never be forgotten.

Words cannot describe how sudden and tragic this loss is to his wife and family. Israel was taken far too soon, and we will miss him dearly.

At the time of the accident, Israel was driving his Miata convertible, a car that held special meaning for him and Chelsey. They shared countless memories riding together with the top down, enjoying the wind and sunshine. It was one of the many simple joys that brought them closer and will forever remain a cherished part of their story.

He is survived by his loving wife, Chelsey; his parents, Carmina and Israel; his sisters, Estefania and Maritsa; and a large extended family and many dear friends who will miss him profoundly.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Seven Springs Church in Marietta, GA. A burial will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park.
