Hugh Donald Ostean, lovingly known as Don, was born on October 9, 1949, in Columbus, Georgia, to William and Emma Sue Ostean. On September 6, 2024, at the age of 74, Don peacefully went home to be with the Lord. For 49 wonderful years, he was the devoted husband of Vicki Payne Ostean. Don took great pride in his role as a father to his two daughters, Amy Ozburn (Greg) of Winder, Georgia, and Carrie Risley (Ryan) of Suwanee, Georgia. He was also a proud grandfather to his five grandchildren: Tyler Ozburn, Andrew Ozburn, Chad Risley, Taylor Ostean, and Rylee Risley. Don was a beloved brother to Sgt. Major William "Bill" Ostean (Joyce) of Powder Springs, Georgia, and Jerry Ostean (Jane) of Brooklet, Georgia.
Raised in Marietta, Georgia, Don was a standout athlete, graduating from Osborne High School in 1968. Following graduation, he honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. Upon returning from service, Don met Vicki, and the two were married in 1974, settling in Marietta, Georgia, where they lovingly raised their daughters, Amy and Carrie. Don was a dedicated husband and father who found joy in fishing, football, and cheering for his beloved Atlanta Falcons. He worked in construction for many years before, he and Vicki moved to Dallas, Georgia, where they have lived since.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, William Melvin Ostean Sr. and Emma Sue "Segars" Ostean, his brother, Sgt. Major William M. "Bill" Ostean Jr., and his grandson, Andrew Donald Ozburn.
