George "Ghost" Emmanuel Yarbrough, V

February 28, 1980 — August 5, 2025

George Emmanuel Yarbrough V, affectionately known as “Ghost”, was born on February 28, 1980, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to George Jr. and Edith Cheesebourough Yarbrough. From an early age, Ghost was precocious, inquisitive, and bright—equal parts loving and daring, with a fearless spirit that carried into every stage of his life.

In middle school and high school, Ghost was a fierce competitor in sports. He ran track, wrestled, played rugby, was a skilled diver, and excelled on the football field. He attended North Central High School in Indianapolis and later Lassiter High School in Marietta, Georgia.

His academic journey led him to study Aerospace Engineering, Physics, and Theatre at Morehouse College, UCLA, and Georgia Southern University. During his time at Morehouse, Ghost also played football as a defensive end, a role that reflected both his strength and determination. While accomplished in many fields, he soon discovered that the stage was his true passion and his calling.

A devoted Christian and ordained minister, Ghost lived his life rooted in faith and could always be found sharing the Word of God, no matter the circumstances. He was actively involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, where his leadership and encouragement inspired many, both on and off the field. His love for sports ran deep, and he especially enjoyed coaching his nephews in football as well as investing in the lives of their teammates, pouring into them the same passion and discipline that defined his own life. Beyond athletics, one of his greatest joys was serving as an acting coach and mentor to his niece, Eliza Yarbrough-Saxon, nurturing her talent and sharing with her the craft he so deeply loved. Whether through faith, football, or the arts, Ghost had a remarkable gift for guiding others and leaving a lasting imprint on their lives.

Ghost rose to national recognition as the star of the television reality series “Call to Greatness,” where he showcased his daring spirit by breaking more than 37 world records — a true testament to his fearless, larger-than-life nature.

Ghost was known for his kind heart, his infectious sense of humor, and his unwavering faith. He had a gift for making others feel seen and valued, and the impact he made on those around him will be remembered for a lifetime.

Ghost is survived first and foremost by his beloved daughter, Starlett Yarbrough, the joy of his life. He was also a devoted parental figure to his nieces and nephews — Zeke Parris, Zade Parris, Eliza Yarbrough-Saxon, Zoe Parris, Deseraie Yarbrough, and Zane Parris — who will forever cherish his guidance, love, and playful spirit. In addition, he leaves behind other beloved nieces and nephews who were deeply special to him. He is also survived by Brittany “Bria” Alpert, his partner in life for many years, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond and their greatest joy, Starlett.

He is further survived by his loving parents, George Yarbrough Jr. and Edith Yarbrough; his sister, Erica Parris, with whom he shared an especially close bond; his sister, Tania Wineglass; and his brothers, Hayward Yarbrough and Morgan Yarbrough. He also leaves behind a large and loving extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who held him close to their hearts.

Though gone from our sight, Ghost’s light and love remain with us — in his daughter, his family, his friends, and in all the lives he touched along the way — guiding and inspiring for generations to come.
