George Maurice Milad

January 17, 1942 — December 7, 2023

1942-2023

Born in Cairo, Egypt on January 17th, 1942, to Maurice Ibrahim and Ensaf Shenouda. George immigrated to the US in 1970, where he began his 53 year life journey with his devoted wife and love of his life, Manal.

George was the quintessential life long learner. His view of life was a compilation of his continuous search for truth, his own experiences, and most importantly his shared experiences with those he loved and admired. He believed that our duty on this earth is to leave a legacy of compassion and service, and was proud to say that his legacy is in good hands with his children and grandchildren.

George was a devoted son and brother. He greatly admired his parents and brothers Bassmi and Monet. They helped shape the man he was and he was forever grateful for his connection to them.

He was his children’s and grandchildren’s biggest cheer leader, whether on the sidelines of a soccer game or on deck at a swim meet, you could clearly hear George cheering and encouraging. He personified the fiercest of competitors and sportsmanship. He believed in playing the game for the love of it and the passion that comes with that. He was a life long supporter of Zamalek FC in Egypt, despite the heckling of all his family and friends, and joined his grandson as an avid supporter of Atlanta United FC. As was typical of George, his love exceeded scoreboards and results. His devotion didn’t depend on results, but always effort and passion.

George spent the last 15 years of his life in Atlanta surrounded by family, and where he became an integral part of his community. He continued to work to the very end, ever grateful for the opportunity to exercise his scientific mind and to be of service.

George leaves a legacy of love, passion and curiosity. He will be forever missed by his surviving wife, Manal, by his daughter Heba and her husband Norman and their children Hannah, Danny and David, by his son Ash and his wife Kate, and children Nora and Eloise, by his brother Monet and his children Sandy and Jeffery, and by his brother Bassmi’s surviving wife Sue and their son Peter, by his chosen granddaughter Ayah and her husband Fahd and their children Sino and Leo, and by his great extended family in the US and Egypt.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, December 13th at 3 pm at 367 Ridge Hill Circle, Chestnut Ridge Community Clubhouse, Marietta, Georgia, 30064.
