Mrs. Frances Hamby Albright, age 88, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born on March 31, 1936, in Haleyville, Alabama, to Charlie and Clara Hamby. Frances was one of nine children and was the last surviving member of the Hamby family.
Frances married her beloved Alton Albright on August 16, 1956. Both natives of Haleyville, Alabama, they spent their early married years moving around before eventually settling in Marietta, and later Powder Springs, Georgia. They were blessed with two children, Pam and Mark, and were dedicated, involved parents. Frances and Alton shared 44 years of marriage before his passing in 2000.
Frances worked as a Paraprofessional for the Cobb County Board of Education for 20 years, serving at McEachern, Compton, and Clarkdale Schools. She had a passion for helping children, particularly in tutoring them in reading and math, and took great joy in seeing them succeed.
A long-time member of Macland Baptist Church, Frances lived her faith through service and love for others, always grounding her life in her Christian beliefs.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Desmond Albright. She is survived by her daughter, Pam Richardson (Ron) of Powder Springs; her son, Mark Albright (Melanie) of Hoover, Alabama; and her grandchildren, Sarah Beckman (Aaron), Callie Richardson (fiancé Nick Talentino), Phillip Albright, and Michelle Albright.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 28, at 1:00 p.m. at the West Cobb Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Helping Hands Program at Presbyterian Village, Austell, Georgia.
