Eva Alt Sherwood, 80, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026. Born on January 8, 1946, in New York, New York, Eva built a life rooted in faith, family, and service.

Eva is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Ron Sherwood; her daughters, Rebecca Scott and Adriana Greene; her son, Austin Sherwood; her cherished granddaughters, Brooklyn and Savannah Scott; her sister, Mia Gardiner; and a large, close-knit extended family whom she loved dearly. She was also joyfully anticipating the arrival of another granddaughter, due in October 2026, a blessing she looked forward to with great excitement.

Throughout her life, Eva held many different jobs, but her greatest professional passion was serving as a paraprofessional at Brumby Elementary School, where she dedicated herself to supporting children with special needs. She found deep purpose in helping her students learn, grow, and feel valued, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of countless children and families.

Her faith was not only the foundation of her own life but also a source of encouragement, hope, and comfort to everyone around her.

Eva's greatest calling, however, was her faith. Deeply rooted in both her Jewish heritage and her Christian faith, she was a spiritual beacon to all who knew her. She loved the Lord wholeheartedly and lived her life as a reflection of His grace. At Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Eva faithfully led the Prayer Ministry, taught Sunday School for many years, sang in the choir, and served in many other areas of ministry. She believed wholeheartedly in the power of prayer and trusted that God always had a plan, giving Him thanks through both life's greatest blessings and its most difficult challenges. Her faith was not only the foundation of her own life but also a source of encouragement, hope, and comfort to everyone around her.

Eva was known for her loving and generous heart. She had an extraordinary ability to connect with people, always ready to listen, encourage, and pray with anyone in need. Her warmth, compassion, gentle spirit, and unwavering empathy made everyone she met feel seen, supported, and deeply loved.

She found joy in life's simple blessings. Eva loved spending time with her family and friends, reading a good book, listening to classical music, and enjoying the beauty of God's creation—whether relaxing at the beach or escaping to the mountains. She adored animals, especially her beloved little pup, Shammi. One of her greatest joys was bringing loved ones together, preserving family traditions, and hosting holiday dinners that filled her home with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.

Though her family grieves the loss of her earthly presence, they find comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord she loved and faithfully served. Her legacy of faith, compassion, generosity, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, church community, former students, and all those whose lives she touched.

A memorial service celebrating Eva's life will be held at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 1770 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta, Georgia 30062, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., with visitation prior beginning at 1:00 p.m.
