Eugenia Marie DeCarlo, affectionately known as "Jeannie," or “Nana” age 74, passed away and came to rest in the arms of our Lord on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Born in New Orleans, and graduated from JFK High School in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1969. Jeannie spent the latter half of her life in Cobb County, Georgia.
Throughout her lifetime, Jeannie held various jobs but will be most remembered for her caring and loving nature. She was a devoted mother to her children, a supportive wife, and a loving caretaker to the many adopted pets fortunate enough to be part of her life. Jeannie dedicated her time to several charities, and she even founded her own organization called "Grandparents Raising Grandchildren."
She regularly attended and hosted Al-Anon meetings and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul’s thrift store. Jeannie found joy in attending church at West Cobb Church, where she had many friends whom she met with regularly. Those who knew her spoke highly of her, and many would agree that she could be considered an unrecognized saint.
Jeannie’s time in heaven will have her watching over several family members including her spouse of 26 years Lou (together for 30 years); son Scott Scherer (Laurie), grandchildren Samantha, Andrew, and Whitney; son Chris Scherer; daughter Ansley Scherer (Jeremy), grandchild Skyla Esasky; son Chad McCune (Rachel), grandchildren Taia, Shy and Isla; son Justin McCune (Aubreay); daughter Laura DeCarlo (Chris); daughter Kate DeCarlo (Sam); sister Susan Waters, niece Alexandra Kohler and nephew Miles Waters; fur child Bella; as well as many other family member and friends whom she would have considered family.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Eugenia Foy Noto and Maurice Noto, and her brother Carl “Sonnie” Noto.
Presently a service for Jeannie is scheduled for morning of June 27 at West Cobb Church. We expect to have greetings from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, with a formal service from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm followed by lunch for all who attend. It will be catered by Chick-fila and Zeigler’s BBQ.
