Elizabeth Tidwell Martin, age 82, of Woodstock, Georgia passed away on May 5, 2025, at her residence. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am Friday, May 9, 2025 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta, Georgia with Dr. Randy Cheek officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Park Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia.
Elizabeth was born at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta and was baptized at Cleveland Avenue Baptist Church. Her family moved to Marietta, and she entered Osborne High School in the 8th grade from Cleveland Avenue School in Atlanta. She graduated from Osborne with the Class of 1961. After graduating, she earned several insurance industry designations.
Her work career included six years as an Instructional Aide at Milford Elementary School in Cobb County. She spent eleven years in the Claims and System Support area of Confederation Life Insurance Company, followed by eight years as a business analyst with Genelco Software Solutions. She completed her career as a Business Consultant with IBM until her retirement.
She married her high school sweetheart, Wallace Milton Martin, March 29,1963. Milton graduated from OHS with the Class of 1960. He spent several years in the Air Force in the GA Air National Guard finishing as a Staff Sargeant. Elizabeth and Milton were long-time members of Olive Springs Baptist Church in Marietta. Elizabeth taught Sunday School, VBS, and was a member of the Friendship Class.
During their 50 years of marriage, they had four children: Karen (David) Harrison of Marietta, Kevin Martin of Dallas, Kimberly (Jimmy) Bennett of Woodstock, and Katherine (Paul) Wilson of Cartersville. They had six grandchildren: Victoria (RJ) Cosma, Evan (Gwendolynn) Bennett, Alexander Martin, Matthew Wilson, Emily Bennett, and Rose Harrison, as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Predeceasing Elizabeth are her husband, Milton; her mother and father, Edith (Mayes) and Charles Tidwell; and her three siblings, John Robert Tidwell, Mary Edith Stilwell, and Frances Joyce Wright.
Elizabeth most enjoyed spending time and traveling with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading and gardening.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, Georgia.
