Elaine Halcome Kuglar, 83, a beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend, passed away on February 23, 2026. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Elaine’s life was a testament to love, selflessness, service and joy.
Elaine dedicated her life to giving and caring for others. She was the light in the room. The person that everyone wanted to spend time with. She changed people’s lives for the better and made the world a brighter place.
When the first love of her life, Donnie Halcome, passed away unexpectedly, she made it her life’s mission to care for her two young children, Jennifer and Matthew. She was the most amazing mother and was involved in every aspect of her children’s lives. She didn’t miss a single football, baseball, basketball, ice skating, or cheerleading event all while working for the Cobb County Education System as a Paraprofessional. She was even known to get her kids up in the wee hours of the morning to run a paper route to make ends meet. Most importantly, she was the love of her children’s life and they were hers.
Elaine was very athletic. She was a cheerleader in high school but her athleticism and love to be in the outdoors didn’t stop there. She loved snow skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, biking, ice skating, water skiing, swimming, and walking. She also had many talents including cooking, sewing, making the home look beautiful, arranging flowers and no one could organize a cupboard or closet better than her. Homemade matching outfits were the norm in the Halcome household.
Elaine met the second love of her life, Raymond Kuglar, later in life and they were married on March 19, 2011. She loved going on adventures with Raymond. They even rode their bikes 80 miles in Idaho for Raymond’s 80th birthday with a family and friend support crew in tow.
Elaine loved the lord, her family and her friends. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten and her legacy of love and light will continue to inspire those who knew her. While we mourn her passing, others are rejoicing her arrival.
Elaine is survived by her two children and their spouses, Jennifer Halcome and Nick Brett, and Matthew and Amanda Halcome; her sister, Sherri and Millard Acree, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and family.
A memorial service to celebrate Elaine’s life will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026 at 12 pm with visitation from 10 am – 12 pm. She will be buried with the father of her children, Donald Halcome, at West View Cemetery in Atlanta.
