Dorothy Mae Gabriel

March 21, 1938 — May 3, 2026

Dorothy Mae Brims affectionately known as Dotty, was born 1938 in Selma Alabama to the late Perkin Brims and Gennette Seay. She was educated and raised in Selma. However, Dorothy later moved to Brooklyn, New York and then made her home in Spring Valley, New York in 1966. Later she moved to Georgia and was a resident at WellStar Nursing Home in Dallas, GA.

After working for 9 1/2 years at Letchworth Village, Dotty established a cleaning business with her husband during that time. During her later years, she dedicated herself to the care of others and enjoyed being of service as a Home Care Provider. Dotty had a unique sense of humor, it was a mixture of sarcasm and wisdom. She was one to unapologetically speak her mind. She had a lovely friendly nature and enjoyed talking with her friends, family and neighbors. Another way she expressed her caring nature was through cooking. Dotty enjoyed cooking especially for her sons and everyone enjoyed her amazing soul food. She also enjoyed grilling, feeding her family and friends.

Dorothy heard the voice of the Lord and received the gift of eternal life on May 3, 2026 at the age of 88 in Dallas, GA. She was proceeded in death by her father the late Perkin Brims, her mother Gennette Pickens, her uncle Ullma Seay, her sisters - Luella Smith, Catherine Brims and Geraldine Freeman, and her sons - Arthur and Jerry Brims.

Poem

As I sit in Heaven...................................................................and watch you everyday

I try to let you know with signs..............................................I never went away

I hear you when you're laughing.............................................and watch you as you sleep

I even place my arms around you...........................................to calm you as you weep

I see you wish the days away.................................................begging to have me home

So I try to send you a sign so you know you are not alone

Don't feel guilty that you have life that was denied to me

Heaven is truly beautiful just you wait and see

So live your life, laugh again, enjoy yourself, be free

Then, I know with every breath you take................................you'll be taking one for me

Dotty.......You will be forever missed and never forgotten! Thank you for your Love!!!
