Donna Lee Goodsole

Donna Lee Goodsole (Siwek) passed away peacefully surrounded by family in hospice care on October 8, 2025. She was 81.

She was born in Buffalo, NY. At a young age, her calling for service materialized on the school safety patrol and the Junior Aid Club. In 8th grade she was elected class vice president. She graduated from nursing school in 1964 and worked in the nursing profession in Buffalo and Marietta, Georgia, until her retirement in 2010. The last decades of her career were spent training and educating new nurses. She also had a successful small business teaching others CPR (including doctors) and had her own collection of CPR mannequins. Her high standards and strong desire to prepare the next generation of nurses allowed little room for incompetence.

She continued her volunteer spirit serving in leadership roles and giving her time to the American Heart Association (Cobb Division), the Cobb Community Council and the American Lung Association of Georgia. She received numerous awards and recognition for her service with these organizations including in 1988 volunteer of the year for the American Heart Association and professional of the year for the American Lung Association of Georgia.

While in Buffalo, she wrote a column for the local paper in Amherst/Tonawanda, New York, and served as the editor of the church newsletter.

She was a devoted mother who put the needs of her children first. She was always one to volunteer to be class mom, team mom and the Girl Scout troop leader.

She was a splendid cook and gracious host and shared her delicious dishes and recipes with many people over the years. She also enjoyed gardening, nurturing and taking pride and enjoyment in watching her plants grow and thrive.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Demer and son-in-law Kevin of Portland, Oregon; son Geoffrey and daughter-in-law Margaret of Bentonville, Arkansas; four grandchildren Joshua, Noah, Kathleen and Leighton; and ex-husband, Charles Goodsole.

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 2, 2025, from 3:00 - 5:00 pm beginning with a brief organized program followed by time to share and visit with friends and family at the Woodbine Station Pool Clubhouse located at 3285 Pebble Hill Dr, Marietta, GA 30062.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
