Dolores Pruitt Kitchens, 94, passed away on August 28, 2026, in Marietta, GA. She was cremated and her ashes will be scattered, along with Tarver’s, at Lake Lanier, Panama City Beach, and Blairsville, GA.
As a young adult, she loved roller skating and attending dances. She was an avid bridge player, loved to spend family time at her home on Lake Lanier, and going deep-sea fishing with family and friends in Panama City Beach, FL. She loved a good glass of wine and spending time with grandkids and great grandchildren.
Without a completed high school education, Dolores was able to finish her working career as an Executive Administrative Assistant for the Vice President of the C-130 Hercules Program at the Lockheed Georgia Company plant, Marietta, GA (now Lockheed Martin Corporation).
Dolores is survived by her three children, Cynthia Kitchens Johnson of Powder Springs, GA; Theodore Kitchens, of Acworth, GA; and Elizabeth Reynolds Pingetzer of Blairsville, GA. She is also survived by daughter-in-law Carol Kitchens of Acworth, GA; son-in-law Andy Johnson of Powder Springs, GA; son-in-law Mike Pingetzer of Blairsville, GA; granddaughter Kendall Johnson Mancuso of Atlanta, GA; grandson-in-law Patrick Mancuso of Atlanta, GA; granddaughter Kellie Johnson Duckworth of Marietta, GA; grandson-in-law Bryan Duckworth of Marietta, GA; granddaughter Traci Kitchens Aviles of Powder Springs, GA; grandson-in-law Eddie Aviles of Powder Springs, GA; granddaughter Carlie Kitchens Ogburn of Kennesaw, GA, grandson-in-law Stuart Ogburn of Kennesaw, GA; and granddaughter Shannon Groshong of Rhode Island; niece Rhonda Hemby of Marietta, GA; nephews: Randall Spruill of Marietta, GA; Jeff Hemby of Canton, GA; and Mike Hemby of Winston, GA. Dolores was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren.
Dolores is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tarver Kitchens, Jr. of Marietta, GA; her mother, Ruby Thompson of Covington, GA; her twin sister, Juanita Hemby of Marietta, GA; her step-father, Frank Thompson of Covington, GA; her father, Thelton Pruitt; her grandson, Brett Groshong of Atlanta, GA; her nephew Dennis Hemby of Marietta, GA; and her nephew, Roger Smith of Douglasville, GA.
There will be a celebration of life (Oct 17th or Oct 18th) at the home of Cindy and Andy Johnson. Her friends and family are welcome to attend.
