Denise Jasmin

June 27, 1942 — December 22, 2023

Smyrna

Mrs. Denise Jasmin was born on June 27, 1942, and died on December 22, 2023. She was born in La Plaine, Haiti, to parents Asomp Antoine Desameau (father) and Messaline Brevil (mother). Both of her parents died at an early age, and she was raised by her mother’s cousin/uncle, Souvenance “Pappy Dol” Dorleans, and his family, who were raised as her siblings.

At age 26, in 1968, she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in Haiti. Her faith would continue to play a significant role in her life. She was known for her unwavering dedication as a preacher of the Good News, whether in Haiti, New York City, Port St. Lucie, or Atlanta, where she tirelessly shared her beliefs with others.

In 1970, she met a young man named Roger Jasmin, himself a devoted Jehovah's Witness and already a full-time special pioneer. With her uncle and family’s blessing, they were married on Jan 29, 1971, and embarked on a lifelong journey together. Roger became her husband, best friend, and life partner whom she would affectionately call “Jasmin,” and he would call her “Den.”

Together, they welcomed three boys into the world: Roger Junior, Gregory, and Etzer, in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. The family immigrated to the United States in 1984 and settled in Queens, New York, where they lived and raised their children. They became members of the Queens Village French Congregation, where she and her husband stayed until they retired and moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida.

As a mother of three boys, she had always wanted a daughter, and her wish came true when she gained three wonderful daughters-in-law: Yahel (married to Roger Jr), Yeda (married to Greg), and Cloteen (married to Etzer). Her heart became complete when, in the year 2000, Manmi Jasmin became a beloved grandmother. She would eventually grow to have seven wonderful grandchildren: Yoshi (23), Kiani (19), Nicole (16), Kiele (15), Eithan (14), Lena (11), and Bryce (11). She cherished her grandchildren and would always have some words of wisdom for them.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Roger Jasmin Sr; her sons and their wives, Roger Jr and his wife, Yahel; Gregory and his wife, Yeda; and Etzer and his wife, Cloteen. Her seven grandchildren: Nicole, Eithan, Yoshi, Kiani, Kiele, Lena and Bryce.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers. Her older brother, Auge Desameau, and her younger brother, Benito Pierre. Her beloved cousins/siblings: Claudette Dorillas and her family, Adeline Duval (deceased) and her family, Danielle Philipeaux and her family, David Dorleans and his family and Gladys Nazaire and her family. Her niece, Michaelle Watkins, and her family. Her beloved nieces and nephews from the Jasmin, Brevil, Dorleans, Dorillas, Joseph, Nazaire, Juste, Sydney and Exantus families. Along with countless other cousins, friends, and family.

Manmi Jasmin remained dedicated to her faith and helping others throughout her life. She touched the lives of many with her zealous spirit and her unwavering commitment to spreading the Good News. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, auntie, cousin, and a dear friend to many. She was an adopted mom and grandmother to many young and old alike in her beloved congregation. Her legacy will live on through the friendships she formed and the lives of those she loved and impacted. We will miss her dearly. Sleep now, Manmi Jasmin, we will see you again!
