Dawn Minette Mathis

Dawn Minette (Huebner) Mathis passed away on October 1, 2026, at the age of 78. She was born on August 8,1948 to Wilmer and Lillie Huebner in Green Bay, Wisconsin. 

She attended the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh and received a bachelor's degree in Speech Pathology and was subsequently employed as a Speech and Language Specialist in the Manitowoc County School District. In 1970, she married Michael Mathis and together they had two children, Melissa Lee and Jeremy Paul. In 1980, she and her husband moved to Marietta, GA where she attended Kennesaw State University, earning an early education add-on degree. She then worked as a substitute teacher in the Cobb County School System for several years before electing to become a stay at home homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and all types of crafts. She especially loved working on crafts with her two grandchildren, Graison Emalee and Rylann McKenna Smith. 

She is survived by her husband of almost 56 years, daughter Melissa Lee Smith (Anthony) and granddaughters Graison and Rylann Smith. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilmer and Lillie Huebner, son Jeremy Paul, sister Donna Boesch, several brothers-in-law, several cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service will be held at a later date followed by burial next to her son in the family burial plot in Wisconsin.
