David Louis Brooks, II

David Louis Brooks II, age 63, of Atlanta, GA passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026 surrounded by family. A Memorial Service will be held at 4pm on Monday, June 29, 2026 in the chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta. The family will receive friends from 2pm until 4pm on Monday prior to the ceremony at the funeral home. An interment service will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery on Tuesday, June 30th at 9am with Air Force Honors.

Born on March 5, 1963 in Memphis, he served as a Captain in the United States Air Force for 10 years during and in support of Operation Desert Storm. He worked as a Principal Software Engineer at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company in Marietta, GA. He also enjoyed hiking, shooting, fishing, working out, building computers, and long walks, especially on the beach.

He is survived by his loving wife Maggie of 22 years; his daughters , Baylee Hopings and Karlie Brooks; step children, Andrea Buckel-James (Chris), Joseph Buckel, Caroline Cochell.(Burke); four Grandchildren, Emmett, Sullivan, Lincoln & Cecelia. and his brothers, Patrick Brooks (Sharon), Larry Brooks (Jane), & sister Lauretta Merideth.

He is preceded in death by his parents David Louis Brooks, Bob & Barbara Marbry, his sister Lurae Holmes.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (the HQ in Maryland, not the GA chapter).
